Having ascribed, with our acceptance into this church family, to the beliefs set down in our church covenant; believing in God our Creator, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and, swearing to labor for the progress of knowledge, the promotion of justice, the reign of peace and the increase of love among all people…

Having pledged ourselves repeatedly to go forth into the world in peace; being of good courage, holding fast to that which is good, rendering to no person evil for evil; strengthening the faint-hearted, supporting the weak, helping the afflicted; honoring all people, loving and serving the Lord, and rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit…

We, the membership of the Church of Christ, Congregational in Goshen, Connecticut, in accordance with our understanding of the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ and in all good conscience, do hereby declare our church to be Open and Affirming.

With this declaration we attest that all persons who love God and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are welcome to join our community of faith, regardless of their age, race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, economic or marital status, level of education; political or past religious beliefs, or any other difference which may be regarded as a barrier to Christian fellowship.

Furthermore, we welcome all who seek to worship God and express our sincerest hope that with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we may all find the answers that we seek.
